iPad Pre Order Crashes Apple Store

The Apple Store crashed earlier this morning due to a reported 50,000 iPads that were pre-ordered within the first 2-hours of it being available. They came to this number from an earlier “report that showed two orders placed about 30 minutes apart reflected Order IDs that were about 10,000 apart.” Are these estimates accurate? Hard to say. Based on Twitter chatter during the morning hours today, plenty of people admitted to placing orders for two iPads. [via IW ]

Ford Police Interceptor Revealed

Ford revealed the 2010 Ford Police Interceptor today at a private event in Las Vegas. The high-end “version of the new Police Interceptor gets the full SHO powertrain including its 365-hp twin-turbo EcoBoost 3.5-liter V6 and all-wheel-drive as standard.” Click here for first picture in gallery. The Police Interceptor’s brakes also have 60 percent more swept area than a standard Taurus and 20 percent more thermal mass to help resist fade. [via Autoblog ]

VirtuSphere Offers Virtual Reality Gaming at GDC

First unveiled several years ago, the VirtuSphere has come a long way since the initial concept. The stationary hamster-like ball “was being shown off in conjunction with a first person shooter, which had the player wearing goggles and holding a gun controller,” at GDC 2010. If you want to try one of these out, you’ll be able to find it in the Excalibur in Las Vegas in about a month, or if you just can’t wait, expect to pony up about $55,000 for one of your own.
