Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy Tab 7.7 today at IFA 2011. It features a 7.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, dual-core 1.4-GHz processor, 16GB - 64GB of internal memory, and a 3.0MP camera. Simply put, the “MS Turanor PlanetSolar, a 31-metre long catamaran covered with 500 square metres of photovoltaic solar panels, departed Monaco on September 2010 to start a world tour to promote solar energy and to showcase a Swiss-driven product of renewable energy meant to inspire new business opportunities amongst boat builders and component manufacturers along the route.” Videos after the break. Click here for more pictures. The Swiss-designed, German-built ship is powered by over 5,380 square feet of solar paneling. The panels power two electric motors, which can reach 15 miles per hour. The panels can also soak up enough stored energy to power the boat in cloudy weather for three days. The excess energy is stored in a giant lithium-ion battery. [via MyModernMet ]

We have seen the future of home cinema, and it may just include Sony’s all-new HMZ-T1. At $780, it’s touted as the world’s first 3D head-mounted display, which will essentially be “like viewing a 750-inch movie screen.” Video after the break. It also says the device’s speaker system makes “it seem as though the sound source is emanating from speakers placed all around the viewer (including front and back).” [via Mashable ]
